FC fan & football nerd

I watched my first match at the stadium in 1995 when I was 7 years old – ever since, I’ve lived and breathed FC. I always attend the home games together with my wife, who shares my passion. I usually travel to away games too and have already accompanied the FC to every current first and second division stadium. I grew up with the 1994 World Cup, the 90s Bundesliga on TV and books about football in the 70s and 80s. If I could remember vocabulary as well as I remember football facts, I’d probably speak several foreign languages...

Groundhopper

As a groundhopper, I’ve already attended football matches in 44 different countries – for me, it’s a brilliant way to travel, as it allows you to get to know the country and its people in a truly authentic way. As well as the ‘classic’ history and typical sights, what fascinates me most about foreign cities and countries are the local customs and the food and drink culture. The idea for “Cologne Culture Experience” came to me in Argentina, when I took part in a guided tour to a Rosario Central match myself.

Carnival enthusiast

Just two weeks after I was born, my parents took me along in my pram to a concert by the Cologne band ‘Bläck Fööss’ – and that had its consequences: I can sing along loudly to almost every Cologne song, and the fact that Carnival here in Cologne is known as the ‘fifth season’ has always been a reality I’ve experienced first-hand. I am now a member of a traditional carnival society myself and enjoy helping to preserve and shape the customs of my home town.
